How should I configure the Windows XP SP2 Firewall when using Tactical Software products?
The Windows Firewall that is included with XP Service Pack 2 will block all incoming connections by default.  Because our redirectors are kernel-level drivers rather than applications, you can not specify them as applications in the Exceptions tab through the Add Program button in the Windows Firewall.  Instead you'll need to click the Add Port button and specify the TCP port number that will be accessed on the computer.  Both the License Manager and TacServe can be entered as applications as described below.
The following is a list of our programs that require an exception in the Windows Firewall and what TCP ports must be added to the list.

All Products:  Allow incoming UDP packets on port 2392.

License Manager:  On the Exceptions tab add the program C:WindowsSystem32DriversTSLicenseManager.exe

TacServe COM Port Server:  On the Exceptions tab add the program C:WindowsSystem32DriversTacServe.exe

Serial/IP Redirector:  If the Accept Connections box in Serial/IP is checked then the TCP port number that is entered must be added to the Firewall's exception list.

COM/IP Redirector:  If it is configured to answer incoming connections with the ATS0=1S1008= command, then that TCP port must be entered into the exception list.
