The back-end daemon will have no fixed device limitation, however, the Linux kernel limits the number of Unix98 PTYs to a maximum of 2048, and virtually all distributions are configured for 256.Since PTYs are a shared resource, the number available to TTYredirector will almost certainly be lower than the maximum, depending on what other software is running on the system at the time.
