This is a common feature of modem servers, which often support a "hunt group" or "rotary" feature that makes multiple modems appear at a single TCP port number on the server. You can then use that port number when configuring TTYredirector, and the server will automatically provide the first available modem in the hunt group.
Such a feature is rarely applicable in applications using a serial device server. Unlike a modem server providing a pool of modems with identical capabilities, a serial device server is usually connected to devices with distinct characteristics and functions. A serial device application using TTYredirector needs to connect to specific devices, not use them as a common pool.
