Does Tactical Software have a formal statement on date compliance and recent DST changes?
The following statement applies to version 4 and later of the Tactical
Software products COM/IP Redirector, Serial/IP Redirector, DialOut/EZ
Redirector, License Manager and TacServe COM Port Server running on any
operating system for which these products have been released.
Unless
noted in the exceptions below, the operation, performance, and
functionality of the above-listed Tactical Software products are not
affected by dates prior to, during, or after the year 2000. These
products do not accept or process data related to dates.
The
sole exceptions to the preceding statement are Tactical Software
products using License Keys that are time-limited, and/or enable the
Encryption Option.
In these two cases only, the products process
data related to dates and use functions of the operating system and/or
externally sourced software that are date compliant until the year
2035.
The new DST change doesn't affect our products in any way, as we don't process dates or time-of-day in the products.
Any time/date displays in our logs are taken from the operating
system and our internal timers are independent of the system clock
and only keep track of the number of milliseconds since our driver was
started.
Therefore, you do not need an updated Tactical Software release for the new DST.
