Why aren't certain COM ports available for redirection by your software?
Our redirectors are able to create any virtual COM port from COM1 to
COM4096 that is not already defined on the computer. If you are not
seeinga certain COM port in the redirector's Select Ports list, it already exists on the PC.
Before
our redirectors can create a virtual COM port where there is a real
hardware port in the system (such as COM1) the real COM port will need
to be removed from the Windows Device Manager and then disabled in the
PC's BIOS on system boot.
If you are unsure of what COM ports are in use by the system, you can check the following Windows Registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Hardware/Devicemap/Serialcomm/
Any COM ports with the names starting with DISerial, DESerial, CISerial and SISerial were created with our redirectors.
If
you wish to remove any other COM ports that are present, you should
find the process/program that created them and remove them with that
program. You should not delete any COM ports directly from the
registry as that may cause serious system problems.
If your Citrix PC already has COM2-10 defined, this article describes how to remove these ports: Removing COM ports from Citrix
