In modern versions of Windows, the virtual COM port will not show up in the Ports section of the Device Manager. However, there is no loss of functionally and you can use Tactical Software products with these versions of Windows.
When you attempt to specify and use a virtual COM port in your application, it will list the virtual COM port despite the fact that it isn't in the Ports list.
Rarely, there are some cases where the virtual COM port won't show up on an application's COM port list or you may need to alter the properties of the virtual COM port. In these cases:
It should now be possible to select the virtual COM port.
If you aren't able to specify the virtual port in your application, you should be able to specify the Communications Cable Device that you created, which is the same as the virtual COM port. You will now be able to control the properties of the port by going to the cable in the modem list | Properties | Advanced | Change Default Preferences | and on the General and Advanced tabs you will be able to configure the port if needed.
