What are the guidelines for configuring a Cisco server to be a modem server?

Cisco IOS version 12.0(9) or greater is required. Cisco recommends at least
12.1(8).  Upgrade information is available on the Cisco web site.

The client machines will need to have the correct modem drivers installed.
Click here for more information on Cisco modem drivers.

The IOS configuration needed for DialOut/EZ - goes under the 'lines' section of the configuration file. See below:

line "begin" "end"! replace "begin/end" with first/last lines
! being used for dial-out
modem inout ! if dialout ONLY, use "modem dtr-active"
transport input telnet
modem autoconfigure type XXX ! where XXX is a modemcap
! 'mica' resets to factory defaults
rotary 1 ! use TCP port 7001 to dial out rotary 1

AS5350 note: Make sure the line "escape-character NONE" is in your Line Config.

If you need a 64-bit Cisco modem driver, please email our support group.
