What wireless modems are compatible with COM/IP or Serial/IP?

Any wireless modem (cellular or radio) that accepts incoming raw TCP/IP connections will work with Serial/IP or COM/IP.

Tactical recommends the following wireless modem manufacturers as they are used the most often with no known issues:

Sierra Wireless    Raven Series
Exemys             Cellular Serial Servers
MultiTech          Wireless MultiModems

The following guidelines should be used in deciding to use COM/IP or Serial/IP as the redirector:

COM/IP is designed to be used as a modem emulator when an application expects to dial a modem, but needs to connect to an IP endpoint.

Our Serial/IP program is designed to be used when an application that opens COM ports needs to connect to an IP endpoint.

Therefore, if your application opens a COM port use Serial/IP, if it needs to dial a phone number, use COM/IP.
