How do I configure a MRV LX-Series device so that I can access its serial ports with Serial/IP?

In the MRV LX Console, click on Async under the Ports section on the left-side of the interface.  A tabbed list of all the ports will appear on the right-hand side.  Choose the port that you wish to access via Serial/IP and make sure the following two settings are in place:

- Set the Access dropdown to Remote.

- Uncheck the Autohangup box, if the device attached to the port is not providing a high DSR signal or there is nothing attached at all to it.  If the Serial/IP Configuration Wizard fails, try disabling this setting.

The port on the LX will now be accessible from Serial/IP.  To access port 1 of the LX, enter 2100 as the Port Number in Serial/IP, for port 2 use port 2200, for port X use TCP port (2000 + (100 * X)).

Important Note: Tactical Software provides a Special Version of Serial/IP for MRV LX Series Servers with V3.7.x - V3.9.x Software
A special release of the Serial/IP Redirector has been made available that is compatible with MRV LX series running software V3.7.x - V3.9.x.  To obtain the special release of Serial/IP click here and complete the download form.

We recommend that you upgrade to version 4.0.0 (or above) of the MRV firmware.  This version of the MRV firmware can use the standard release of Serial/IP and includes support for the COM Port Control Protocol, which will allow control signals as well as data to be transfered between the serial application and MRV server.
