Does using a redirector and a device server affect the timing of data transmission?

The network communications between a redirector and a device server naturally adds a small time delay compared to using a locally attached modem or serial port. Very few applications are sensitive to this change in latency, Class 1 fax applications being the main example. For this reason, Tactical Software does not recommend or support the use of its redirectors for Class 1 fax applications.
