The auto-reconnect feature is controlled by the check box Restore Failed Connections in the Serial/IP Control Panel.

If your serial server supports the COM Port Control Protocol, you can set the keep-alive packet interval under the Advanced button, Options tab, COM Port Control Keep-Alive Interval.  We recommend that this setting be at least 1000ms.
