This is a common feature of modem servers, which often support a "hunt group" or "rotary" feature that makes multiple modems appear at a single TCP port number on the server. You can then use that port number when configuring the DialOut/EZ Redirector COM ports, and the server will automatically provide the first available modem in the hunt group.
Such a feature is rarely applicable in applications using a serial device server. Unlike a modem server providing a pool of modems with identical capabilities, a serial device server is usually connected to devices with distinct characteristics and functions. The application using the redirector needs to connect to specific devices, not use them as a common pool.
