Using DNS to Access Backup Site License Managers

For users of our Site Edition software, having a redundant License Manager machine(s) will allow users to receive a license even if one License Manager machine fails.

Example: If your site requires a 64 simultaneous connections, instead of using one 64-port License Manager, use four 16-port License Managers.

On your DNS server, configure the entry for the License Manager with four A-records, each pointing to a different License Manager machine. Then configure each Site Edition client with the DNS name under the Licensing button. When the DialOut Site Edition tries to obtain a license it will query the DNS server and obtain all four IP addresses of the License Manager systems. The DialOut Site Edition client will try each of the four License Manager machines before a licensing failure will occur.
